More of Bailey
Now I know how my brother has racked up thousands of pictures of Marla, Emma, and Henry. There are so many photo-ops during the day while feeding, changing, rocking, etc. etc. I snapped a couple of Bailey while we were feeding today. I know I still have some learning to do with the camera but the pictures are starting to get better as time goes on. I have taken 200 + pictures over the last 4 days. Enjoy these there will be plenty more to come.

A Proud Father
I tell you what. Words can not describe how proud I am of my little girl and her mother. Jess was amazing in the delivery room. It all started Thursday morning around 4:30 am. Jess started to feel contractions. The nurse examined her and she was 3 centimeters dialated and 80% effaced. She She suggested we go ahead with an epidural since the contractions were pretty hard and painful. After that Jess was in heaven. She could feel slight contractions but was comfortable enough for a little sleep. Around 9:00 the Dr. Pohl came in to examine and she was at 4 centimeters and he called it 75% effaced. He told us that normally you move at 1 centimeter a hour giving us 6 more hours until we could start the pushing porocess. So we all figured it was safe that we would start pushing around 3:00pm and deliver the baby around 4-5pm. Not the case. Around 11:30 Jess had hard contractions that the epidural could not ease. We told the nurses and they said it was normal and gave he "the button" to push when ever she had pain that was unbearable. At 12:15, Jess was moaning for me to get the nurse again because of the pressure she was feeling. The nurse instructed me to make her use "the button" to relieve the pain and they would be along when they could get by. Jess agian told me to get the nurse because she thought that the baby was on the way. Again I rang the nurse and they were pretty much annoyed by my constant interruptions. This time they came by and examined Jess. Well. the constant naggin wasn't for nothing. Jess was now dialated to 10 centimeters and +2 station. Needless to say the nurses worked quick to get the doctor in the room for delivery. After only 3 hours Jess had gone from 4 centimeters to fully dialated. After Dr. Pohl came in it only took Jess about 30 minutes to deliver!
I sat back and video taped the whole process. Jess was a champ through it all! I have never seen her more determined in our 5 years together and I can not tell her enough how proud I am of her for how she handled it all. For more pictures of Bailey click here.

Going to the Hospital
Well....we are on the way to the hospital to get induced. Actually, we are going out to eat one last time without a baby or having to hire a babysitter (the grandparents). We are supposed to arrive at the hospital at 5:30 at which time they will give me the "inducing pill" as well as a sleeping pill. The DOC says that I need to get all the rest I can for the BIG DAY! The big day is scheduled to be SOMETIME tomorrow (Thurs.)! Paul and I are getting VERY VERY excited. I had a hard time sleeping last night.....I kept thinking about the baby. So, we will post pics once she is born. Keep us in your thought and prayers.

Our NEW dog to-be

Yes, you heard me right. We are getting a dog. A Weimaraner to be exact. We recieved a call the other day about an older couple who had a Weim that they could not keep anymore. Paul jumped ALL over this one. We went today to meet the dog. Her name is Hailey. We cannot change that b/c she is 4 1/2 years old and that is the ONLY name she knows. So, we will have a Hailey (dog) and a Bailey (our little princess). The dog is crate trained and can even do some tricks. We found out that she sits, stays, lays down, rolls over, and shakes hands. I am sure there are many more tricks that she does, we just have to get to know her. As you can tell from the pictures, she is a little over-weight. That is b/c the older couple that has her is not able to walk or play with her much and they tend to over-feed her. That sounds like Paul. So, Paul and the dog are going to start walking and eating healthier (smaller portions). We will get the dog Feb 1st. We have a baby on the way and have to get her here safe and sound first. Our little girl is our FIRST priority. The dog can wait. Enjoy the pics.

Pregnancy Update
Just got back from our weekly doctors appointment. This week I had an internal exam to see if I was dialated or if my cervix had softened any. Good news.....I am 1/2 cm dialated and my cervix is VERY soft. My cervix is so soft that the DOC (not me) said that we are going to induce. He said that he was inducing b/c of how soft my cervix is. He wanted to be able to monitor and control the delivery better. I am scheduled to be induced this Wed at 5:30pm. The DOC said that we will have a baby on Thursday Jan 27th. YEAH! Now onto the baby.....her heartbeat was in the 150's-160's but leveled out at 153. I measured 39 weeks. The DOC said that we should be expecting to have a 7 - 7.5lb baby. Keep us in your prayers. My coach for the delivery will be the one and only Paul Northcutt (the best husband in the world). Assisting on the sidelines (taking pictures and running the video camera) will be my mother Jamie and Paul's mom Bette. Boy oh boy are they in for a treat. I already warned them that they may learn a couple new words....if you know what I mean.

I am the witness
I Paul Northcutt, swear unto you that the above entry contains no false information. Believe it or not, Jess did not ask or bribe the Doctor to induce. We both were shocked when he said that we would have a baby by the end of next week.

38 Weeks Pregnant
As of today, our baby is considered full term. Full term is anywhere from 2 weeks before or after your due date. New this week, my lower belly is covered in stretch marks. I guess this is a sign that she is growing more and more. One morning I woke up and BAM, they were there. Not too attractive, but what is a girl to do. We took pics this week of my ever growing belly and stretch marks. I go to the DOC on Friday. He will be doing an internal to find out if my cervix has dialated or efaced any.....probably not with my luck! At our last appointment he said that he would induce a week early IF and ONLY IF I had dialated some. So, with that said, pray for dialation. I am trying to stay on my feet so that hopefully I will dialate some. May just be wishful thinking. I will post an update after our doctors appoinment Friday. DIALATE, DIALATE, DIALATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember to click the picture of my belly above to see more pics for this week.

37.5 Weeks Pregnant
I entered my 37th week of pregnancy on Wednesday. Still no contractions. We went to the DOC today and begged for me to be induced. I only get to sleep about 3 hours a night. If it isn't rolling in every direction to get comfortable, it's getting up to go to the bathroom every 30 minutes. Number 1.. Not Number 2. The baby's heart rate was in the high 140's to low 150's. The appointment was during her active time of the day. I measured in at 38 weeks that is only a half a week ahead of schedule. I will get an internal exam next week to see if I am dialated at all. Pictures will come later. Hope everyone is doing well.

36 Weeks Pregnant

I am now in my 36th week of pregnancy. We went to the DOC on Thursday for my weekly appointment. This week I had my first internal exam to find out if I was dialated or not. The DOC seemed very surprised at how low I was carrying. As he put it, "I bet it feels like you are carrying a bowling ball between your legs." EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!! The babies heartbeat was good....135 beats per minute. My blood pressure was a little (very little)bit higher than normal. But, that is only because I was scared of what an internal exam involved. I mean, there is already a bowling ball in there, what else can I take! The internal was not bad at all. All that worrying for nothing. We did find out that I am not dialated AT ALL!!!! I was sure that I was about ready to deliver. Guess I was wrong. The DOC said that he suspects I will be right on time or maybe late. NOT EARLY! I am always a day late and a dollar short. I measured in at 37 weeks this week. Obviously that does not mean that I will deliver early. We are still looking at an average sized baby delivered right on time....Feb 1st. We post another update next week. My next appt is on Friday. Enjoy the prego pics of week 36. Remember....click the pic above to see more.

Christmas Morning with Paul & Jess

Well, this will be the last Christmas morning that it is just Paul and I. Paul is definately looking forward to playing Santa Claus for many years to come. It was a quiet morning. We woke up, had some Eggo waffles (blueberry), and then opened presents. I bought Paul a garlic peeler, a container to keep garlic fresh, golf shoes, and an umbrella that I purchased at the dollar store. Our unborn baby bought Daddy a gift as well. She thought that he would enjoy a book with tons of pictures of naked babies. It gave him some ideas of different pics to take when she arrives. Paul bought me 4 nursing bras. And, the BEST gift I have EVER recieved.....10 half-hour massage passes. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! It was a good Christmas. Enjoy the pics. Click the picture of Paul above to see all our Christmas pics.

Christmas Eve with The Northcutt's

We had a wonderful Christmas lunch with The Northcutt's on Christmas Eve. The celebration was held at our house. We were lucky to have Mary, Rusty, Maggie, Ben, and of course Mom and Dad. We started off the festivites by having lunch. Lunch consisted of Smoked Turkey, Honey Baked Ham, Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Rolls, Chips, and Jessica's homemade Coconut Cake. It was all very Yummy! As you can tell by the pictures, the kids stole the show. Everyone enjoyed opening presents. Paul bought Ben a police man outfit that came with sunglasses....cute. We also had to get Ben a pair of Paul Pants. What are Paul Pants you might ask? That is what Ben calls camoflauge pants. Because he always sees Paul in camo when he is hunting. So, now Ben owns his own Paul Pants. Maggie also had a wonderful Christmas. Enjoy the pics. After Maggie and Ben left, Dad was ready for a nap. We all think it is so amazing that he can fall asleep anywhere and in any position. So amazing, that we just snapped picture after picture while he was sleeping....he never even knew. After Dad's nap we went to Christmas Eve services with them. We went to a traditional service held in Downtown Buford at the Buford United Methodist Church.
