Be sure and listen to Marla. No matter how uncomfortable you are now it's a walk in the park compared to the agony you'll feel during an induced labor.

We've gone through it twice and both were terrible. With Violet Marla was litterally writing in pain in the bed - even with a morphine drip.

Seems like you've gotten the hang of your camera after a little practice. Glad to see it! Don't forget to size down the pictures manually. They're still quite hefty (a few megabytes each) which is the reason they load so slowly.

I have come down with a soar throat. Now I do not want to deliver b/c I don't want to be around the baby sick. I am just worn out and ready to be a mommy. I will wait until my time comes.

I too am 38 weeks pregnant as of Friday... I am so excited that someone else can relate to what I am experiencing. My stomach is not as big as yours and I hate that because I wanted so badly to take pictures of my big fat stomach :-). My doctor wants to induce me as well. He said that if I do not go into labor this weekend, he will induce me on Tuesday, Jan. 3rd. He says that I have only dilated 1 centimeter and holding. I don't want to to be induced at all! I want my son to come when he is ready to come; besides I do have two more weeks to go.

I have a cold... NOW of all times! I did not have a cold throughout my entire pregnancy but now I do! It started with a sore throat on Tuesday and now I have a runny nose :-(

Well, please keep me updated on your progress and I will do the same. I pray that all goes well for you and your baby!

I just turned 38 weeks this past Sunday, and I have to say this is the hardest part of the pregnancy for me mentally. I haven't had any contractions, I haven't dialated, and I show absolutely no signs of anything happening anytime soon. I am just ready for him to be here and hope with every passing day, he is ready also. I guess we'll see if there are any changes Wednesday when I go to my next Dr. Apt.
Please, please, show me something.

Don't feel bad about your big belly or the stretch marks. I am 38 weeks and 2 days (Feb. 1) and my belly is just as big, and yes it has wonderful stretch marks too! I find out tomorrow if I have dialated any more ( I'm at 1 as of thursday) so lets hope that I'm a little farther along now. I hope all goes well with you and your dialating=)

As of Feb 10, 2006 I am 38 weeks pregnant and I have dilated only 1 cm. I do not want to have an induction into labor. I would LOVE if our baby would decide to come in 2 weeks time. I talk to our baby all the time, and I always feel so relaxed because this has been a very beautiful and wonderful pregnancy. I feel so blessed. With the doctor's appt this morning, I adamantly don't want to be induced...I would love our baby to come on its own...we're patient. We just hope our doctors will be the same. If any complications come about, yes then I can understand their reasoning for wanting to induce at 40 weeks, but seriously, I feel babies are gifts from God, and I really want our baby to have his/her own welcome into the world. I am also beginning to walk more from this weekend. I have had no sickness at all during my pregnancy and I am so very thankful to be feeling this great. Our baby moves A LOT!!! and it feels so playful and lovely. I just want it to be as natural as possible. I mean really...what did people do in the old days?? I hope and continue to hope for a good delivery. I have faith in our baby and I hope he/she will come not forced, but in his/her time. Good luck also to everyone. I feel the same as most of you...the agitation and worry are always there when it comes to elective induction. I hope for the best delivery for all of us! :)

as of 2 day iam 38 weeks i feel so big .i cant wait 2 have him .i pray ever day he will come soon .my other 2 sons ask ever day when the new baby will be here they want 2 meet him as much as i do.i just keep telling them it will be soon.I HOPE.

Hi, I am 38 weeks PG and well at my 37 week appt. I was told I was 1cm and 50% effaced, then that little "check" brought on an extremely large contraction and I lost the plug....but as you can tell it's been a WEEK and still no little boy in my arms... Grr! I was in a size 1 when I first got PG and now I have stretch marks on only my hips...I'm sad! Oh well~! Good luck everyone with the babies and Doc appts.!!!!

Im 38 weeks and been contracting for a week. I am 80% effaced and 4 dilated. The docs just keep telling me to wait and its on my nerves already! I think I might be one of those people that never go in full labor on my own and they wont help me! Oh and my stretch marks are MUCH worse!

I am 38 weeks pregnant today tuesday May 16th 2006 I have not dilated at all and I am scheduled for a c-section on the 24th of this month this is my second baby. my belly is big not as big as yours but bigger than my last pregnancy my oldest will be two july 4th. I am a little nerves about bringing a new baby home I am not sure how my oldest is going to react. I do have a question can anyone tell me how accurate sonograms are at telling the wt of my baby. my oldest son was 5lbs. 12oz. my last sonogram said this one was at 5lbs.13oz. I was also wondering if anyone thinks my baby would reach 6lbs. in just 8 days. I only have 8 days left til I can finally hold my new son

I am 38 weeks and 4 days. I was told that I am 1cm dilated and starting to thin. This is my first child and I want to know how much longer, now that I am 1cm dilated, I can expect before I deliver.

I will be 38 weeks pregnant sunday and last monday I was 3 cm dilated and thinned some. I lost my mucus plug thursday morning. I have been having contractions for about a good 2 weeks or longer. Everyone tells me I will go early, even the doc said I would. I am so ready to have her. The thing is, I guess you really never know when you will go into laber until it happens. Can't wait till that day!!

I'm 38 weeks too! Glad to see I'm not alone here. This is my 4th baby, and I can't tell you how badly I want to meet this baby. My doctors will not even talk about induction until I'm at least 1 week over due. In fact, I went in last week with contractions 3 minutes apart, and was 3 cm dialated, but they sent me home because of a "lack of hospital beds". Sure enough, the contractions subsided, and here I am - HUGE and waiting for any sign that labor might begin again. Just remember (as I try to tell myself) - this, too, shall pass!

hi there i am 38 weeks pregnant as of sunday, and have major stretch marks everywhere like all over my hips thighs and right up my stomach,i am getting braxton hicks, but i am not getting any other contractions,my baby boy is moving loads, but what i have noticed is that i am not leaking breast milk and also the baby is not dropping down into my pelvis any, the midwife tells me that can be normal, but this is my first child and i aint sure if they are just saying that just to keep me from paniking , please can someone tell me if that is normal or if they have experienced the same sort of thing with any of there pregnancies, thanks

im 38weeks pregnant but havnt had any internal yet the baby has dropped down and im having braxton contractions which keep stopping and starting i want her to come now!!,

I am 38 weeks and can't wait to see my baby. I also can't wait to be off work for a bit...that should prove to be a nice lapse in my rutine. I want to pop Now!! I know its probably selfish but I feel like I have had enough...thank God we are not elephants- with a 2 year gestation. I would go batty. I have been taking primrose oil, having sex (which is crazy difficult with a belly) and walking but as of yet, no baby. My doctor is so caught up with my slightly elevated blood pressure (that is most likely just from my work) that he hasn't even attempted to check my dilation progress. Should I consult him about it rather then wait for him to check on his own??

im 38 weeks pregnant and i dont know if im dialated or anything like that...i go to the doctors tuesday...i just cant wait for this to all be over with...its very miserable including the heartburn i have 24/7

Turned 38 weeks today. My fourth pregnacy. All other three were induced with no pain relievers, so I know no difference. Except for me each birth got harder and more painful so needless to say I welcome the epidural this time and pray I'll handle the needle OK ; ( As for the heartburn Amanda I feel your pain...Malox works ok but I buy tums by the big bottles ; ) makes it a little more manageable....

I am 38 weeks today and dialated 2-3, effaced 50-60% as of yesterday. This is baby number 3 and it has by far, been the most difficult patience-wise. My two girls ask everyday when she is coming....SOON, I HOPE!!! I have also been having lots of sex to try to "induce" labor, although I dont know how reliable that is. SO far, it hasnt worked, but my husband is pleased, even though I feel like humpty dumpty in a porno. Well, good luck to all. Hang in there and just enjoy the new anticipation and waking up each new day thinking "IS it today?" :)

I am 38 weeks pregnant, my baby has dropped and it's so funny because I have this huge empty squishy spot at the top of my tummy where the baby used to be. It is harder to walk, I have contractions on and off, and sharp pains in my groin. My OB has not checked for dialation yet, but I am hoping this baby will come before december!

today i am 38wks and 4 days pregnant. i'm scheduled for a cesarian on thursday. i caught an aweful cold yesterday with a very soar throat. i was fine throughout my whole pregnancy. even my rheaumatoid arthritis went into remission and just came back about a week ago. im looking forward to thursday morning..

Hi. I am 38 weeks pregnant as of Friday! My belly is small. In fact the doc did a growth and development ultrasound. He confirmed that baby is fine. All measurements are in the 52nd percentile. I do not have any stretch marks. This is my second pregnancy. My first son will be seven on January 1st. We did not find out the sex of the baby this time. I am sooo excited to see what it is. I have lots of movement lately. Very uncomfortable. The indigestion has been terrible this time around! I have eaten so many tums. Yuck! I do not sleep anymore. I am also 2 cm dialated as of two weeks ago. They have not checked me again yet. They just say look out for labor signs! I am so scared!!! The reality is kicking in...pain...diapers...naps...and everything else. My 6 year old is spoiling me. He is so independent now. Not like a baby, you know?

I am 38 weeks pregnany dilated 3 centimeters and effacing. I am so unfortable the baby presses on my ribs. I have gained 20 pounds.
My dr wants to induce me on Sunday, my husband wants me to have the baby naturally. I am scared to death of giving birth.

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and so fed up. Baby is pressing down hard in my pelvis and it hurts to walk, I've been having contractions on and off for a week now but nothing.
I've not been checked so I don't know if I'm dilating or not.... wonder if anyone else having the same. Any tips for bringing it on, tried raspberry leaf tea, sex and walking....

This is my first Pregnancy, I'm 19 and I will be 39 weeks on Thursday. At my 37 week check-up, I was already 3 centimeters dilated.
At my 38th week check-up, last week, I was 4 centimeters and 100% effaced. I had my membranes stripped, but it didn't even give me any contractions at all! I have an appt tomorrow. Hopefully, they'll freakin' induce me, because I can't take much more of going to the bathroom 3 times an hour,lol. Anyway, I can't believe I'm 4 centimeters and really no contractions yet.

I am 37 weeks this week and already 3 cm dialated. If this was my first he would be an only child. I have two others and the sain is true that every pregnancy is different. My first no problems at all. Only braxton hicks after sex. Went into labor 3 wks early. My 2nd pretty much the same but had bad braxton hicks several hours before going into real labor. She was 2 wks early. This one have been having braxton hicks for months now that are painful. It's like all the symptoms of labor are coming on slowly. It started with my stomache getting hard to pain shooting down my leg now I get all that with the back aches and my croch muscles hurt. Moving at all is painful. I always have a dull ache basically from below my boobs down to my knees. I can't sleep and when I do I get woke up with discomfort, I am so tired. But no real labor yet, I wish they would induce me, I am done! Ready to cry I am in so much discomfort and sleep deprived. Have an appointment tomarrow so I am hoping he tells me to go to the hospital without passing "go". I'd honestly be surprised if I haven't dialated more.

i dont think there is anything wrong with being induced, iam 21 and pregnant with my 2nd daughter,the first time i was pregnant i had to be induced at 37weeks+3days, and i went in at 3pm,started at 5pm and had her the following morning i was only in labour from start to finish 5 hours,at the time i was only 18,to be honest i wanted to be induced with this pregnancy,iam now 38weeks and 5 days i have had my show 3 days ago,even though there is still 9days to go,iam more nervous this time than i was with my first at 18 year old. i have gotten away with cramp this time in my legs as i used to get them everyday at 8am,i was in agony the first time with my siatica but this time my back has only started to hurt and not let me be comfortable since i have had my show,its a waiting game now and it has just put me off food and sleep,i basiclly havnt slept in 3 days iam exchausted and just want this labour to hurry up...the not knowing when is whats getting to me .

I am a little over 38weeks pregnant and my god i now understand what people mean about the last few weeks of pregnancy becoming hard work.. mentally and physically. baby is enagaged and feel alot of acheyness in my groin area, is this feelin normal.? feels quite different down there now..and baby is moving about alot, dont think there is alot of room in there anymore!!

I'm so fed up of waiting for my baby now its unreal. Due date was 25th april but the midwife said i could be later as we didnt have a 12 week scan and apparently that gives them a more clearer idea of when the baby will be due. I've tried loads of things to bring on labor eating pineapple, walking, sex, bouncing on bed even but no luck. I think my mucous plug came out but it was just white and didnt know if it was thrush or not. I just want to hold my baby and meet him

Hi there. I am 39 weeks and 4 days as of 26 May 08.
i have not started to dilate and baby is not down yet either.

Is there anything i can do to move baby down?

I have had some very minor Braxton contractions, baby still moves around alot. This is my first.

Any thoughts?

I am 38 weeks 2 days had my dr apt this morning.. i was dialted 1 cm at 36 weeks and no thinning and hard i was 1 1/2 cm 25% effaced at 37 week and was having mild braxton hicks. at my apt this morning i was still 1 1/2 but 50% effaced and cervix was soft and baby was a -2 station.. but my contractions have pretty much stopped since my 37 week apt. i have a sched induction on july 7th 2 days after my due date. and to think this is baby #3 and i was farther along with the other two i was 2-3 cm at 38 with one and 4 cm at 38wks with #2 and now this one.. lol I hope it happens on it's own but i need contractions first!

as of today i am 37.5 preg. im so ready. at 37wks i was 2cm 50%effaced n -2station. so ready to have him. i have been taking evening primrose oil orally n vaginally. going to try castor oil today. hope it works to speed up labor.

as of today im 38 weeks and 3 days!! this is my second child. the baby is now well down in my pelvis and im gettin loads of pains in my back! my legs dont feel like they belong to me any more and ive tried most things to help start labour! sex is out of the question now as it seems too painful. im sick of havin the runs now as it seems to be every day! and im sick of feelin sick!! lol gonna have a hot curry tonight to see if that helps at all! im just hopin that the baby comes soon, as s/he big sis is lookin forward to meetin it!

38 weeks today, been having alot of contractions and all of a sudden they stopped. Dilated to 2 cm last week. Baby is moving fine, lost plug last week also. 2nd child. Think I'll go full term ?
