Spa Baby/ Overnight Visit/ Aunt Britz

IMG_1579.jpg
Bailey has had a busy week. Aunt Britz came and visited us Thursday night. Britz is a student at UGA and she gave up the infamous Thursday night party night to spend with Bailey. They snuggled together on the couch all night long. Mommy and Daddy were able to watch the O.C. without any interruptions....very nice! Bailey sure does love her Aunt Brittany.

We had our first overnight at MeMe and Papa's. Mommy and Daddy are not quite ready to leave Miss Bailey overnight so, we decided to all pack up and head to Cobb County and stay overnight. Bailey slept in the room with MeMe all night while Mommy and Daddy got a full night of sleep. We had a great time and a wonderful Birthday dinner for Mommy at Aspens. Thanks for having us over and for a wonderful dinner.

Bailey's first spa visit???? Bailey has been waking up with goupy eyes. Of course Mommy freaked out and thought that she was going blind like Ray Charles. (That is what I get for watching too many movies.) After an emergency call to the doctor....."I think that my daughter may be going blind"....I found out that it was simply a blocked tear duct. It is very common for infants to have a partial or completely blocked tear duct until age 6 to 12 months because the eyes’ drainage system is not always fully developed at the time of birth. So, we massage them daily and clean them with cotton balls. Sometimes it is caked on and we have to soak the cotton balls on the eyes....looks like she is a spa baby. To see all the pics click here.

P.S. Bailey is up to 8 lbs. 13 oz. That is up 13oz in only 1 week. Wholly Cow!!!!!!!!!!!

Shew-Wee!!!

IMG_1527.jpg
Bailey will be one month old tomorrow. Everything is getting much easier. We kinda have a routine. She does really well during the day. She wakes up every 3 hours or so for a feeding. She is now up to 3 oz of breastmilk. Mommy is on her own at night. We figured out that Daddy NEEDS his sleep. It is best for everyone involved if we just let Daddy sleep and not wake him. If we do wake him he may tell us to HUSH!!!! One night Bailey was screaming and that is what Daddy had to say to us. He is not like that during the day, so Bailey and I decided to let Daddy get his rest at night and us girls will party without him all night.

Shew-wee!!!! Since Mommy's friends don't produce enough breastmilk, we have to supplement with formula for 2 feedings per day. Bailey does very well with the 2 formula feedings each day. We have noticed that it has slowed down her bowel movements. She still thinks that she must do #2 after each feeding but, her body doesn't. So, she pushes and grunts but nothing....nothing....until....BAM!!!!! She explodes. In the first 2 weeks of life she was doing #2 at least 7 times per day. Now we are down to 1-2 times.

I have also taken a few pics of Bailey in her swing. This thing is a lifesaver. She really enjoys it and it calms her when she is fussy....hardly ever. Paul and I are really loving parenthood. She is a joy and we are the luckiest parents in the world to have such and angel. To see all the pics click here. Enjoy!

First Shopping Trip & Tummy Time

IMG_1388.jpgWe were going crazy sitting in the house. Mommy made a brave move and thought she would teach Bailey a little something about shopping. She must first learn where to find a good bargain. I took her to one of my favorites....Tuesday Morning. They just (this week) opened a new Tuesday Morning 5 minutes from the house. This is a must-have for Buford. The trip was short and quick. MeMe helped us out. Mommy is not ready to go out alone quite yet. Soon!

Bailey began "Tummy Time" this week. She really seems to enjoy it. Her attention span lasts about 5-7 minutes on the mat. She only likes to be on her tummy for about 2 minutes. She is good at lifting her head and looking into the mirror. She loves to lay on her back and bat at the stuffed toys. Mommy and Daddy love taking pictures during tummy time. MeMe also took some of the tummy time pics.

I have also posted some other random photos from the week. Bailey is doing great. Still waking up every 3 hours for a feeding. She is now up to 8lbs even. That is up 8 oz in one week. We upped her feedings to 2 1/2 oz. of yummy breast milk. Mommy is trying to produce enough. Her 2 friends (if you know what I mean) don't like to cooperate. They are getting better. Drink lots of fluids.....right Dad!!!! To see all the pics click here.

1st Valentines Day

IMG_1455.jpgBailey is doing well. She has gained back the initial weight that she lost after coming home from the hospital. We just had her 2 week well check-up and the doctor said that she is just the perfect little baby. Of course, Mommy had a list of things to ask the doctor. "Is my baby having seizures?" Doc says, "No, of course not, all babies twitch and move." Mommy even brought in video tape evidence of Bailey having her "seizures". We also brought in a buger of Bailey's as evidence. "Is this buger normal?" Doc laughs and says, "Yes, she really is very healthy." Mommy just worries. Bailey is now 7 lbs. 8 oz. Up 2 oz from birth. She is 20" long now. And cuter than ever. Everyone keeps saying that the pictures make her look older and bigger than she is. So, we took several of her next to a dollar bill to show how little she really is.

We took some pics on Valentine's Day. Who knows how long she will let us keep torturing her with these photo shoots. Paul is loving his new job....photographer. It helps that he has such a cute subject. Enjoy the pics! Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!!!!! Click here to see all the Valentines Pics.

Photo Shoot

IMG_1188.jpg
We decided to have a photo shoot after our bath yesterday. Paul has a new digital camera and a new flash. We wanted to see how well it did. Bailey did really well this time. She almost made it through the whole shoot without peeing everywhere. On our last picture, she decided to let it all pour out...that's my girl! Paul is becoming quite the photographer. He is really proud of this set of pictures. I also included some random shots we took throughout the day. As well as very nice photo of Papa and Bailey. She is the sweetest little girl! Bath Time and More

IMG_1150.jpg
As you can see Bailey is now taking a bottle. The breast feeding thing was not working. According to the lactation consultant, Bailey has a very strong suck. She is sucking so hard that I am in a lot of pain. After several days of pain and frustration, we made an executive decision and decided to pump. So, now I pump breast milk for Bailey. She loves the bottle and so do my boobs! We also had our 2nd bath. Bath time seems to be one of Bailey's FAVORITE times. She does not make a peep. She just lays there and enjoys every second of it. After the bath, Daddy treats her to a full body massage with baby lotion. She and Daddy are in heaven. We also caught MeMe napping with Bailey and several photos from a photo shoot we had at home the other night. That didn't go as well as expected. We will work on the shots some more. Enjoy the pics of Bailey. To see all the pics click here.

The Best Aunt in the World

DSCF0391.JPG
My sister Brittany stayed with us for the first 3 days. Britt is amazing with Bailey. She is especially good at swaddling her. Bailey just loves to look at Aunt Britt when she is talking to her. Not only did Aunt Britt look after Bailey, she also cooked some wonderful meals for Paul and I. Her specialty is Bran Muffins!!! We can't thank Brittany enough for all her time and love. Bailey is so lucky to have such a wonderful Aunt! To see pics of Aunt Brittany and Bailey click here.

Grandparents/Sleep/Poopy Diaper

I have a few seconds before Bailey wakes up for another feeding. She is absolutely the light of my life. She makes me smile just looking or thinking about her. My mother (MeMe) stayed with us for 4 days. That was amazing. She helped us so very much. Paul, Bailey, and I can not thank her enough. She is an angel. While my mom was with us, my dad was stuck in his house because of an ice storm. He planned on staying too, but he got iced in. Paul likes to take naps with Bailey. Aren't they cute together. Paul is the BEST daddy in the world. Bailey just loves looking at him whenever he is holding her. He is on cloud 9. Paul's mom (Gran) is here helping us. She will be staying for several days. She has been such a help. Thank you to everyone who has helped us. Paul and I are so greatful. The last pics are of a PROUD diaper change. Bailey is a good pooper. Check out one of our many diaps. More updates later....gotta go feed. Click here to see all the pictures from today.
