Bailey: Week 12.5

DSC00209.jpg
We think Bailey may be teething. She has been drooling a ton and constantly biting on her writs and anything she can get in her mouth. This has caused her to be a little more fussy. We are not used to crying, because she never did it before. It has also messed up her sleeping. She is back to waking up every 4 hours at night. So, we are a little sleepy and worn out. She has been spitting up a lot more lately so the DOC said to add rice cereal to her bottle. The fussiness may be from the rice, who knows??? Post a comment if you have any suggestions. We need suggestions for sleeping? Question is, should we Ferberize her and let her cry it out at night, should we cuddle and hold her until she goes back to sleep, should I just sleep with her on my tummy? What do you think? Belly sleeping, side, or back?

Gran visited one day this week. We went shopping all day. We made out quite well....one GORGEOUS baptism dress and a CUTE romper. Thanks Gran!

You may notice in the pictures that Bailey is now trying to escape off the changing table during diaper changes. It is challenging trying to put a diaper on straight so that this doesn't happen. (I had to share this pic with everyone!) I am also quite proud of our homemade mobile. My dad was creative (or bored) one day while visiting and came up with this idea for our ceiling fan. Bailey loves to look at it.....and the TV too. I think her favorite show is either American Idol (GO BO BICE!) or The OC.

Now, what you really want....pics. Click here to see her pics from the last part of this week.

My sister "Ferberized" their baby and she did pretty well with it (my sister and brother-in-law felt guilty). Skyler sleeps through the night in her own bed and doesn't need to be rocked to sleep--they just lay her in her crib and she puts herself to sleep. I wouldn't let her sleep with you; I did and Cole still won't go to bed without Wayne or I and he is 2. It might be fun now, but trust me as they get bigger, it is not so much fun and you will probably miss that evening time with your husband to just relax and have an adult conversation--I know I do. Hopefully you will find something that works for you--just try your best to keep her out of your bed and in her own. My next one is NEVER sleeping in my bed. Did I mention Lexi was 3 before she slept in her own bed!! It was SOOOO hard to break that habit. Good Luck!!!!!

Cathie makes some great points. The only reason Emma started out in a big girl bed at a year and a half was because mommy was VERY tired of rocking her to sleep. Your habits catch up with you and you can only blame yourself for them! But, at this point, I don't think ferberization or how Bailey sleeps is the issue. You need to decide if Bailey really has a need to wake up every night or if she is simply doing it out of habit!

Hey Cathie.....THANKS for posting a comment. YEA!!! At what age did your sister start to Ferberize Skylar? How long did it take? Maybe I will call her....do you think she would mind? I don't think I am ready to do it quite yet. I still think she is waking up for a reason like Marla said. But, I do want to do it in a couple months.

I vote for holding. It is tiresome now, but just turn around and she will be 16 and asking for the car keys. Enjoy the closeness while you can!! They are grown all too soon.

I'm sure my sister wouldn't mind--give me a call and I will give you her number. Skyler will be 6 months old on Sunday, I think she started the Ferber method about 2 months ago. They didn't follow the Ferber method to a T, but tried their own variation of it. They started it because Skyler got to the point where she would only sleep if she were being held or in Carin's bed and the minute they layed her down in her crib she woke up screaming. You could also try to google Ferber method--I found alot of websites with some helpful advice. I am already preparing for the next one, when she gets here she'll be in her own bed for the few short hours that she will be asleep.

Cathie....The key word in you last sentence was "few". She will only sleep a few hours....or at least it seems that way. Bailey sleeps well in her crib. She doesn't wake up when we put her down. We rock her for about 30 seconds and she is asleep. Then, we put her in her crib. I think we have a keeper. She really is a GREAT baby. I cant wait to meet your little one. How are you going to spell her name? Thanks Cathie for all your advice and help.
